MARILÍ MACHADO

MARILÍ MACHADO is “Born in Buenos Aires, adopted by Córdoba, and National by singing,” as she likes to define herself. She graduated as a children’s theater teacher at the Jolie Libois workshop at the San Martín Liberating Theater, Córdoba province. She studied singing with excellent teachers (lyric and popular singers) such as Patricia González, Guillermo Parmigiani, Sebastián Mazzoni, and continues her training with Marcelo Velasco Vidal. She studied guitar with Maestro Samy Mielgo, among others.

She develops her art as a singer, musician, composer, actress, and teacher.

She began her solo career in 1991, after being part of various vocal groups: the Machado Brothers TrioPaís Vocal Group, AntaresGroup, and Raigal Group. A year later, she was distinguished as “Revelation Voice” at the 1992 Jesús María Festival and received the same award at the 1994 Cosquín Festival.

As a solo singer, she performed with orchestras and musical groups on different stages around the world:

In Europe, with the company of Roberto Herreraand Nuevo Tango Quintet.

Asia: In Japan, she performed, from 1993 to 2004, more than 100 shows during five tours with different musical groups: Los Laikas, the Orlando Trípodi Tango Orchestra; Alberto Di Paulo‘s Orchestra – with whom she recorded for Victor RCA Japan -, and subsequently with Osvaldo Montes and Aníbal Arias. In South Korea, she sang with the company of Cecilia and Oscar Gauna. In the United States, she was the female voice of the Forever TangoCompany in 1996, and returned to that country in 2016 to sing in New Orleans on Argentine Independence Day.

In Latin America, her voice joined the Piazzolla Tango orchestra, conducted by Maestro Juan Pugliano; and, of course, throughout our country, she sang at various festivals. She supported Horacio GuaranyCuty Roberto y Carabajal. She played with renowned musicians from Córdoba and participated in the CD Mujeres de Córdoba, sponsored by Eladia Blázquez. In 2003, sponsored by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, she was a cultural representative of the country in Europe.

She was invited by the Orchestra of Juan de Dios Filiberto conducted by Osvaldo Piro, and by “Octango” by Lucho Servidio. She worked alongside excellent tango dancers.

From 2007 to 2011, she was part of the stable cast of “Piazzolla Tango”.

In Germany, she sang the Misa Criolla with the “Friedesch Palast” Choir in Berlin.

While alternating her tours in Asia and Europe, she participated in various festivals abroad: 2018 Granada Tango FestivalPlai Festival in Timisoara (Romania), and Músicas del mundoat the Teatro Principal de Mahón in Menorca, Spain, with the great Menorcan pianist Marco Mezquida. She shared the stage with Joan Manuel Serrat and French singer Zaz in these festivals. She participated in the CD Il sole che verrà, by prestigious composer and singer Pippo Pollina. From 2002 to the present, she tours Germany every year; her CD La canción nuestrawas recorded for German Aton Records. Alone or with recognized musicians from Germany and Argentina, she performed her singing on stages throughout the German country with Inti IllimaniGerd SchinkelTomas SchuldEL MonteSamy MielgoCoco FernándezGabriel MerlinoOlvido Ruiz, and writer Jan Cornelius and Nordakas, with whom she performed a concert for refugees in Germany. As an actress and singer, she was a member of La novicia rebelde, under the direction of Gerardo Gardelin with Diego Ramos, Mirta Wons, Rodolfo Wals, Rodrigo Pedreira, and Laura Conforte, among others (Opera ); in Che, el musical argentinoand El Conventillo de la Paloma directed by Santiago Doria at the Teatro Cervantes, with Claudio García Satur, Rita Terranova, among others.

She presented her solo show Mi guitarra y younder the direction of Rodrigo Pedreira at the El Búho theater. She performed in La magia de los caminos by Patricia Corradini alongside Arturo Bonin, Héctor Romero, Juan Martínez, Arturo Zeballos, Osvaldo Avena, Carmen Mesa, and was part of the cast of Recordando a Federico, by P. Corradini, alongside Lidia Catalano, H. Romero, Carmen Mesa, and Osvaldo Avena.

In March 2018, she opened the Granada Tango Festival. She sang at the Mar del Plata Colón Theater, at the closing of the Semana Piazzolla(July 2018); at Café Tortoni (December 2018). On July 28, 2019, at “IVO Café” in Mar del Plata, and continued to perform until the end of that year.

In March 2019, she sang at the opening of the SADAIC concert series, in tribute to International Women’s Day. On May 31 of that year, she presented her latest album Agitando pañuelos, in co-production with Samy Mielgo at the Monteviejo theater in Buenos Aires. During that year, she continued with the presentation of the CD Agitando pañuelos, and presented her show Celebrando a Mercedes, written and directed by Leonardo Coire, artistic direction by renowned actor and director Carlos Kaspar, together with the duo “El Monte” and Osvaldo Avena on percussion, and guests like Samy Mielgo, among others.

She has recorded more than 10 albums throughout her solo career. QuimeraLa Canción NuestraContraluz, Fruto de AmoresA Mercedes I (2013) which was declared of cultural interest by the Ministry of Culture of the NationA Mercedes II (2014), and Agitando Pañuelos (2018), are some of them.

In June 2019, she was awarded the “Tablas”prize for her impeccable trajectory, constant work, and presence in the industry. Her award was the “Tablas Sorpresa 2019”, recognized by the Argentine Association of Interpreters, under the presidency of Susana Rinaldi.

Inspired and motivated by her 100-year-old mother who had overcome COVID, and in homage to her and humanity suffering from the pandemic, she held two streaming events in 2020: Canto a la vida for the benefit of the Argentine Red Cross, with invited musicians (Javier CalamaroJuan MartínezOsvaldo AvenaSamy MielgoEl MonteGabriel Merlino). The second streaming: La canción nuestra (October of that year) included her latest songs, with Leandro Marquesano on piano.

In 2021, as part of the opening shows at notable bars to celebrate International Women’s Day, she performed at Bárbaro Bar alongside Samy Mielgoo on guitar. She sang at the Festival de Tango Ba at the Notable Bar London City alongside Leandro Marquesano on piano, and at Quinta San Vicente alongside Osvaldo Avenaand Leandro Marquesano. That same year, she sang at the tribute to Ariel Ramírez alongside Leandro Marquesano on piano, at the Notable Bar Viejo Buzón. At the end of 2021, she presented Mujeres argentinas at the Usina del Arte.

In 2022, her voice resonated at the La Giralda bar alongside musician Samy Mielgo and she held a series of recitals produced by Patricia Corradini at Las Violetas confectionery (Notable Bar), with her show De esperanza el reencuentro.

As an actress, she was part of the cast in La vida ante mis ojos (version by Martín Repetto) based on the play Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, at the San Martín Cultural Center, alongside Flor OteroMariano MussoTIki Lovera, among others.

She recorded her latest single De esperanza el reencuentro, authored by her, on digital platforms, a song that headlines the show presented at Las Violetas.

She participated in the World Tango Festival Ba at the Usina del Arte, with Gabriel Merlino on bandoneon and José Taulamet on piano in her show Tangos para Lea.

At the University of La Matanza Theater, alongside Ariel Ardit and Néstor Fabián with the Aeropuertos 2000 Youth Orchestra, conducted by Néstor Tedesco, she presented Por siempre Tango.

She participated in a series held at notable bars in Altos de la poesía, with Max DitamoJosé Savelón, and Leandro Marquesano.

From 2002 to the present, she tours Germany every year, her second home.
